Social Media Policy

This document outlines the Center of Psychological Well-Being and Empowerment’s policies related to use of Internet and Social Media. This document shares information about how we conduct ourselves as mental health professionals on Social Media and the Internet. It details the types of responses I will give to various interactions that may occur between us via Social Media or the Internet.

If, after reading this document, you have any questions, we encourage you to bring these questions to our attention at our next session. As new technology and Social Media platforms develop, there may be instances where I need to update this policy.

Friending

To respect your privacy and confidentiality, we do not accept friend requests on our personal social media accounts from current or former clients. The practice of adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise your confidentiality and may impact the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship. If you need to contact us between sessions, please use the portal we have provided you a link to.

Instagram

We use Instagram to share psychoeducation material with individuals who choose to follow our professional page. It is not a requirement that clients follow our professional Instagram page. The information we post is not a substitute for in-person therapy.

Interacting

Please do not use messaging on social networking sites to contact us. These sites are not secure and we cannot guarantee that messages will be read in a timely fashion. Please do not engage with us in the comments of posts, as doing so can compromise your privacy. If you do engage in an exchange over social media it will need to be documented and archived in your client records. The best way to interact with us is through the portal we have provided you a link to.

Appointment Scheduling

We prefer using the portal or our email  we have provided you a link for to arrange or modify appointments only. Please do not email information related to your therapy sessions, as email is not completely secure or confidential.

Texting

If your therapist uses text messages to communicate with clients, the time from this is limited to during the hours of 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday. If you need to reach your therapist between sessions, you can do so via text during their  business hours. If contacting them outside of business hours, please email them or send a message via the portal.

Website

We have a professional website that is accessible to clients. It displays information about our practice, including fees, services, and information about who we are as a therapist and what areas of therapy we specialize in. You are welcome to access and review the information included on our website. If you have any questions, please reach out to us via email or the portal.. You can also use the contact form on the Contact page of our website.

Location-Based Services

If you use location-based services on your mobile phone, you may wish to turn these settings off. While the Center for Psychological Well-Being and Empowerment PLLC is not listed as a check-in location on Google, Facebook, Foursquare, or other sites, if you have GPS tracking enabled on your device, others may conclude you are a therapy client based on your shared location.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Center for Psychological Well-Being and Empowerment PLLC’s  Social Media Policy. If you have any questions or concerns about any of the procedures or policies, please reach out to us so we can discuss further.
