Stress Management Workshop

This workshop, run by Dr. Dia Anjali Mason, aims to introduce you and teach you a variety of ways to regulate your nervous system and stimulate your Vagus Nerves. The methods include breathing techniques and use of sound and light physical touch to activate the parasympathetic system and teach you to take your body from fight mode to rest and relaxation mode. Techniques and options will be introduced and practiced during the session. The goal of this session will be to equip you with a few easy and brief methods to soothe and manage distress.

Who could this workshop benefit? Anybody and Everybody age 18 and above, but here are certain groups that were considered during the workshops development:

Individuals who are looking to supplement their individual therapy with tangible and easy to practice self soothing skills will benefit from this workshop.

Individuals not connected to therapists at this time but want a chance to increase their self soothing and self care habits, would also benefit from this workshop.

Early career therapists carrying heavy caseloads and looking to learn ways to self soothe while also teaching their clients these skills.

Individuals with demanding jobs and little time to attend to their nervous systems and emotional well-being.

Parents who would benefit from self regulating to eventually support their child in regulating as well. These techniques are simple enough to teach your child.

Individuals who are currently impacted and perturbed by world affairs.

What you may want to know:

This is an in-person workshop and will be run in small groups of 5 people.

You will be seated throughout the workshop.

No sharing of personal information is required during the workshop.

The workshop is heavy on the teaching and practicing of introduced skills and everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace.

While you wont be moving your body extensively, you are encouraged to wear loose, comfortable clothing.

The methods you will learn during the workshop will always work better for prevention purposes rather than intervention purposes. This means that you will be encouraged to pick one or two of the techniques and practice them for a few minutes daily to get the best results.
